>>45016417The difference is that the Kanto they push nowadays is always a bastardized representation of it.
When Kanto is mentioned, it almost always means or refers to the removal breeding/day night cycle, Kanto starters, Mewtwo, some poorly done Nugget Bridge reference, rehashed map design, Snorlax needing to be woken up with a flute, and some shitty callback to the Team Rocket Trio or Giovanni.
It was almost endearing after Gen 5 because at that point it had been almost half a decade since Kanto got the spotlight again, but now it's just tiring because it always is used as a means to restrict progress and bank on nostalgia, and it's always the same tired tropes.
The fact Kanto seems to have closer ties to Galar than Kalos is ridiculous. Swimmers on Route 9 even mention how close Galar and Kalos are and yet they do nothing with that.
Pokemon functions best when it recognizes it's history as a whole rather than regressing back to the same shit. People liked Gotcha! Because it started at Kanto and went evenly to every other generation so it felt like it was truly a history. Kanto basedboys didn't even really know or acknowledge the stand by me reference up until this point, it was something only fans who actually cared enough about the games got. From there, it evenly acknowledged Gen 2's changes instead of retconning them like FRLG and LGPE are guilty of.
Cope, seethe, and dilate.
