You don't have to use healing items.
You don't have to use TMs.
You don't have to use held items.
You don't have to use 6 pokemon.
You don't have to use the correct language setting.
Just don't use any of thoses and game becomes really hard, now.

i would agree with you, but the game literally forces him in your team. If you don't have any free slots you're forced to send someone to the PC, and you can't send Latios/Latias instead.
