He had such a perfect combo of the broken things in gen 1, is there a single one of the things that made him great in gen 1 that wasn't instanerfed in gen 2?
Blizzard was lowered to 70 acc, Hyper Beam was made useless, critical hit ratio was fixed, anything else?

What if he became normal/steel in Gen 2? Given the metal horns, the metal crests on it's face, and the metal hooves. And then throughout the next 6 gens got steel type moves that you'd expect, like Iron Head, maybe even Iron Tail if they felt like saying his tail tufts were made of steel hair or something.

How would Tauros have fared since then?

Not even really a mechanics change in this case. It just lost a ton of special attack going into gen 2. It didn't have any moves that affected the special stat.

It’s weird how Gen 2 mostly has shitmon, even has the weakest set of legendaries competitively, but Tyranitar has been the most consistent of all pseudo legendaries. Possibly the most consistent mon of all.

It started off as a 600 BST mon in a gen with barely any moves to hit it for 4x damage, and has only gotten buffs since then.

Because of how safari zone mechanics work, chansey is effectively easier to catch than tauros.
A pokemon's chance to run is dependent on their speed stat. Chansey has a really low base speed, while tauros has 110. You can throw several rocks at a chansey before it will run, while tauros still have a high chance of running if you throw bait.

Tauros is presently ru, it's not too bad now that it has close combat.

Throat Chop and Zen headbutt are boosted by SF.
Body Slam is 85 bp with stab and sheer force and life or boost.
close combat and earthquake are coverage moves that aren't boosted by sheer force, but it's not like there are any other strong, physical ground and fighting moves that are boosted by sheer force.

Like, what the fuck could you even give tauros in moves?

Talonflame is UU right now and was RUBL last gen.
That's a far cry from how it was in gen 6, but not nearly as much of a fall as Tauros.
