Are Pokemon fans too pessimistic nowadays? It's one thing to be critical or pragmatic, but outright hating nearly every aspect of the series while still clinging on to it?

What's there to be optimistic about? The good spin-off series are all but dead bar the dreadful possibility of soulless remakes and the main game series has been on a steady decline for 7 years with no end in sight since the mindless consommer hordes keep rewarding GameFreak for putting less and less effort into each new entries and, as a business, why the FUCK would you put more time and effort into your products in the consumers are still going to buy it anyway no matter what you do?
Everything has been getting worse for years and I see 0 reason to think it's EVER going to get better. Now why the FUCK should i be optimistic in this scenario?

Damn this looks good, only downside is it's early access like Temtem; they straight up say they (as of now) only have one third of the content they want to put in the game. Thanks for the heads up though anon, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

I’ve been pessimistic about this franchise for a long time but even I think the Music video was great as it is literally the only time outside of remakes they actually did nostalgia right by bringing the best of every gen and not just gen 1 pandering which they keep pushing since XY which is why its liked alot to begin with. .

Mainline Pokemon is one of the most rehashed anti-consumer games out in existence, if anything people didn't become properly pessimistic until SwSh. That being said there's definitely plenty of people here who very much just need to move on from the franchise. Personally I still come around for Showdown and PokeSpe. The TCG threads are nice for the art too even if the actual game is kinda meh

Can it really be called anti-consumer when the games gets progressively easier with each new generation after 5? I think we are waiting for the games to grow up with us like we did with them so we get disappointed when the parent companies dumb the plot and gameplay down instead of taking risks and make it more challenging or free.

It's like we want it to go in Zelda BotW's direction but get some Mario stuff instead.

Despite the wild area SwSh still feels like a corridor game.

You don't even play Mario games, do you? They've always been better than pokemon since the dawn of time. 3D mario games have always been consistently top quality, and you also have infinite spinoffs to play, from kart racing to rpgs.

Last I played was Galaxy 2. I've never been impressed by the games plot wise though. Mario Kart/party etc don't even have plot, it's just win the race, compete against others.

one of the main aspects of Pokemon is evolution
ironically, Pokemon refuses to evolve much because Game Freak doesn't want to make the games anymore and TPC is scared that too much change will alienate the audience, causing less merch sales.
And when people see other franchises actually doing things and evolving, they are right to get angry. The only people who are "happy/satisfied" with the current state of the (mainline) games are the ones who only play Pokemon.

No, that's dumb, I want the same level of quality I grew up with, I don't want it to take risks or reinvent itself, I want it to consistently be as good as gens 2-5 were, that isn't asking for much, I don't want slaps in the face like the ORAS Battle Frontier and the removal of over half the Pokémon.
