Garchomp can't fly, but it can certainly glide. it has the same ability of original Superman, where he doesn't actually fly but makes powerful leaps into the air, thus the phrase "can leap tall buildings in a single bound"

You aware that mach just means times the speed of sound right? Mach speed is the speed of sound, mach 2 is 2x the speed of sound, mach 5 is 5x the speed of sound, etc.

No, wings are for gliding, you can fly with whatever thing gives you enough energy to go high. Also Garchomp has wings and it uses them, and the Dex specifically says that it flies. So cope harder with your headcanon

I figure the Pokemon world is probably supposed to be seen from a kids point of view, so it doesn't really touch on shit like war, death (too much), sex or "what do they eat"/"who pays for Pokemon centers" more than vague implications because kids don't understand nor care about that shit when they could be battling and adventuring instead
