I agree with you, personally, but the saturation needs to go up and rework the posing for some pokemon.

Like, there are 2D Pokémon who have been given more personality when translated into 3D, but some didn’t fare as well as others, even some 3D era pokemon didn’t fare better either.

Do you know what an animation is? It’s never not ‘mid animation.’ OP’s sprite isn’t even animated.
The model could be mid animation and you wouldn’t even know, because it’s consistently good.
If the first frame of a Gen V animation is all that’s good, who gives a shit?

From what I’m seeing, there rarely any games that get their lighting right. Some have light that looks fantastic outdoors but terrible indoors, others can display almost every color conceivable to the human eye fantastically but make white-colored objects glare and blind you, some are even too dark at night or dimly-lit locations when it looks just perfect during the day or properly-lit places.

The way I see it, Pokemon Sword is alright in that regard. Not perfect, but I can’t complain about it.

Models tend to look better overall, but I feel like all pokemon translate decently to sprites, while a lot of pokemon just look ugly as models (pokemon with clouds in them like altaria and the genies for example look much better as sprites than models).

Personally Flying pokemon capable of standing shouldn't be flying constantly. What they're doing now is a step back when the Genius Sonority games did it right

Gen V sprites are the worst in the series, the Gen II sprites are where the real kino is. The modelfags really only have Gen V to argue with because they know no other game comes close to how shit 3D is.

I'll add that some Pokemon suit ground and flying poses differently, just because a mon *can* fly doesn't mean it has to be depicted doing so.

I'd say some like Staraptor and Skarmory look more intimidating when grounded, but look goofy when they're suspended in the air. Vice versa, Crobat would look pretty dumb on the ground

The issue is that Gen 6 took the old flying Pokemon that looked better grounded and gave them animations that didn't suit them so they could be used for a gimmick they dropped in the next gen

Gen 7 seemed to not have this problem going forwards, but we still ended up with a hovering Corviknight so who knows what GameFreak is doing

I'm one of the few rare pokemon fans that actually like both. 3D models help pokemon like Klinklang and Porygon shine while it's nice seeing Gen 6+ pokemon in 2D sprites with dynamic poses.
