Water types are already very numerous, in real life animals living in water is a gigantic amount, so you really need every single one of them to be water types? We already have a water type octopus. Urshifu being water type is more interesting because it's based on how it fights instead of being yet another water animal.

We need more non-Water type aquatic Pokemon but Grapploct was not a good pick for the job.
If anything, just give it an Ability that gives it Water STAB. It only has one non-Hidden Ability anyway, so it has the room for it. Now it's a Fighting/Water type in spirit but without the added weaknesses and without setting off the anti-Water autists.

I'd be ok with that. But I don't get why people here are so obsessed with all water animals needing to be water types. The series doesn't need more water types.

Galarian Corsola and Cursola, or Runegrius not being Rock/Ghost is honestly far worse for me. At least Cursola goddamnit.

Or G-Zapdos not being Electric/Fighting. Who even cares about Grappoloct.
