Any Pokémon can have any Hidden Type, set by the player. Certain mons have a Hidden Type naturally in the wild, like Salazzle having a Dark HT and Gyarados having Dragon HT. These HTs can still be changed but the HTs you find on Pokémon naturally are more effective than any other random ones set by the player.

Morimoto (the battle director) has already said they tried that and discovered 4 is the optimum number of moves for the gameplay and they don't foresee changing that.

But the battles don't. You think they don't still have an idea what they want the battles to be? If 5 moves broke that before, without a gimmick, it still obliterates it, when including them. The staff still have inter-office leagues, they won't want to play bullshit, even if you need the fillip to git gud.

At most it probably just be that Pokemon's signature move.

I.E. Since manipulating aura is Lucario's whole thing, it always has Aura Sphere. Greninja always has Water Shuriken, Incineroar always has Darkest Lariat, so on.

Or just a move that's heavily associated with that Pokemon, like Charizard and Flamethrower.

Nah, next gen won't have any new gimmicks. It will focus on creating a region rich in areas, gameplay and post game while trying to find a good way to implement ALL the previous gimmicks.

Yep, notice how they started releasing DLC when it became worthwhile. Still doesn't discredit or discount the fact 5 moves broke the game before, adding that in with a gimmick clearly hasn't changed a thing about the end result. Protect and Detect are removed as moves and become their own dedicated commands. For fast Pokemon, it's called "Dodge" instead.

Criminally undersused, half of them is just shitty filler abilities that ruin the pokemon. They need to go back and redo a lot of them.

Droped. Were mostly unbalanced guaranteed nukes.

Guess we have some sort of pattern and next gen will introduce something that will not be dumped and forgotten.

Defend as a standard option like other RPGs. It would act like Protecting a Max move now; you'd take 75% reduced damage and all status effects would go through Defend. Whatever "goes through Protect but is reduced by 75%" mechanic gen 9 has would just go through Defend completely.

This I agree so wholeheartedly especially since when their done well, they end up bringing so much to a pokemon with Blazikin being one example that benefited a ton from hidden abilities intro but yea in many instances like Delphox for example, their hidden abilities are just Shit on the pokemon (though some instances are more because the abilities themselves are shit in their own right and should of either be buffered or reworked to something more useful).

Next gimmick is supports, you send out a fighter and keep a supporter by your side, the supporter can only use status moves and cannot be targeted for attack, but can be hurt by general area moves.

Changes happen if they're easy to implement and make profits.
Changes for the sake of changes are an headache. Kids and casual normalfags don't give a shit if you can use only 4 moves or 10 so it's not a selling point. Do you really imagine the average person being hyped over 5 moveslots?
Dynamax already got a lukewarm reception and that involved pseudo kaiju battles.

Using special cards you can equip pokemon with decorative elements, each element guarantees an effect (rain, sun, land, etc.).

Every 'major' change to the Pokemon and battle system since the jump to 3D has been a marketing gimmick. Megas, regionals and Dynamaxes are largely ways to spruce up old, already popular Pokemon for an extra boost to the marketing hype campaign. Megas, Gigantimaxes and Z-Moves appeal heavily to the power level faggots, which is a huge thing for Jap media and the weeaboos who like it. More importantly, all of these new gimmicks gave them extra opportunities to shill KANTOOOOOO

What on earth would the marketing angle for a 5th move be? There's nothing visually exciting about it for casuals, and mechanically it'd be a clusterfuck for the dedicated fans. It appeals to nobody so yeah, I could see nu-Game Freak being dumb enough to do it.
