gen 8 already introduced two other slow pseudo-bulky mono fightings and there's a shitton of other, older ones, that were also included in the base game even through the dexcut - think conk, machamp, hitmons, mienshau etc, so it's not like the dex needed to be spiced up with some fresh new mono fighting types. It's just fucking boring.
