It really depends on who he commissioned them from. The darkandwindie ones are horrendous and I have no idea why he would throw away his money like that. That dude just cannot draw in the pokemon style for shit. Other artists like in pic related are quite solid.

The inspirations behind most of the mons are well thought out and far better than anything I’ve seen from most fakemon artists, so I give him credit there.

Cant rewatch the vid now, but iirc theres a notable island/rock called WIZARDS tower in a lake in oregon. Lots of dragonflies hang around lakes and bodies of water in general. Its a vague connection, but it works well within the realm of pokemon. Very far from a ridiculous overreach.

Okay I'll start with the starters going from hus own video:

Snake: honeatly the best of the bunch

The ideas aren't lazy (besides the water type), he has good names for them. But most ideas did not translate or not present at all. Some themes clash. No direspsct to the artist because he was directed by Lockstin. But these are not different fundamentally than your average Fakemon. Some case even worse.

That's probably because gf knows unused type combos generate interest. People have been holding out for stuff like electric/fighting, bug/dragon, normal/ghost and such but those will immediately become less special once they actually happen, and it's good on their end to keep dragging people along.

Gen 4 was probably when most fakemon designers nowadays got into it, so they imitate what was introduced as pokemon to them. this includes me but I like to think I'm pretty close to gen 1/2 style wise.
