Funny, I played Prism just yesterday and during the Champion fight I've been left with Typhlosion against Salamence and 3 Smokescreens in a row allowed me to win this fight with 15-20% HP left

The game stacks so many odds against you. There's also several starters without it so if Cyndaquil players weren't such homos they'd actually play the game in a challenging way.
