Look at something like Super Mario 3D Land or Kid Icarus: Uprising and compare to Pokemon. Not even a comparison. It's the same shit with every platform these games are on. I could see Gamecube, SuMo's graphics weren't entirely better or worse than Tales of Symphonia's. That's also not far off from a lot of 3DS JRPG's though, everybody was going real hard on those bite-sized graphics. It wasn't spectacularly impressive or ugly.

Try playing Resident Evil Revelations, RE Mercenaries 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (the N3DS has the same GPU as the original), Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Senran Kagura 2, hell even FE Awakening's models look better than Sun and Moon.

The only decent looking thing about Sun and Moon (and the Ultra versions) are the Pokémon models. The actual overworld models like like shit. We have N64 era levels of gloving going on with the hands.

Obviously you haven't played them then. Sun and Moon had really washed out textures and low detail models. FE Awakening's models aren't that good either but they're better than SM. And Super Mario 3D Land had way better models than Sun and Moon.

Most noteworthy 3DS titles look better than SM. I'd even say Tales of the Abyss (3DS port) is better looking than Sun and Moon.

Realistic graphics won't fix the series' issues. I wish they went for a more stylistic approach when it came to the 3DS gens and waited a while longer for true 3D in the main series.

It really doesn't. It just has an art style that masks how shitty it looks. The models are way less detailed in S/M. MHGen has way more detailed and better looking models. They're just not in a cutesy 2010's anime art style.

In this case that's absolutely true. Sun and Moon have really basic chibi models that lack detail and have really muddy low res textures that look like they're from a DS game. Even the landscape looks like shit, you just don't notice because the colours are really vibrant.

MHGen has detailed character models and landscape models that look really good for the 3DS and are unique looking, and the textures actually look like something that belong on a handheld of the early to mid 2010's. Sun and Moon looks like a generic anime game from the DS era or early 2010's mobile games.
