>>45058181And yet, despite how delusional anon is... The fact remains that they are missing out on millions in sales from misplaced focus. No matter how much anon tries to argue that children are the target audience (which is apparent they haven't been since Gen 6 at the earliest because kids don't even know what a Kanto is and are busy playing open games like Fortnite) everyone and their mother knows that the franchise is being kept afloat by nostalgia alone.
Japanese polls literally prove this. Pokemon has faded into a 15% obscurity when nip children are reportedly citing Fortnite as their favorite over 20% of the time despite Japs being notorious for hating chink shit.
SWSH is proof of the franchise's current struggle. It only sold 18 million despite being split up between two versions to entice more sales from hardcore fans while other, more ambitious games that went through development hell or even delays, like Animal Crossing, outsold that easily despite coming out far after.
SWSH couldn't even outsell a lazy Mario Kart port that didn't even get any DLC to boost sales. Ishihara continues to put all his stocks in mobile development and partnerships with Tencent while the main series hemorrhages money out the ass from sheer lack of ambition and incompetence.
Pokemon hasn't been a big hitter for years, and at this rate it never will be. The devs will continue to crunch as they have been despite the best efforts being drowned out by cheaper cashgrabs that got lucky like Pokemon GO, and the main series continues to feel threatened by miniscule competitors like Yokai Watch.
Nice bait, though.
