Did you ever manage to get one of the ticket events in gen 3 the legit way?
I remember always being jealous of the people that got to go to one of those events and capture stuff like Lugia and Ho-oh. The ironic part was that I lived an hour away from NYC and could’ve gotten the auroraticket back in 2004..

The one I always wanted was the mysticticket. They distributed that in NYC in 2005, I had been to the city in the early-mid 2000s with my parents. If only I knew, huh?

They do this with every event in Japan then in America you get a code at GameStop or something.
I think it’s better than requiring people go to New York, regardless.

Right, so I have to get in my car and drive to GameStop to pick up a code just to get 1 Pokemon. Which is exactly what my point was, it encourages injecting.

That's all fine and good but also factor in the fact that the distribution ends and then people are left with literally no way to obtain it anymore if they didn't go to GameStop. Which is fucking stupid in game where the theme is to "catch them all"

Yeah, I got the Deoxys island at a Pokemon Rocks America event way back in the day. This was post FRLG but I don't think Emerald had been released yet.

Being a dumb kid I didn't even bother resetting for nature and just got a Calm one.

It was undoubtably an issue back in earlier gens. III preventing mon transfers meant everyone Gameshark'd in legacy mons that wouldn't show up until FRLG or Emerald, and Gen 4/5's easily exploitable DNS system meant anyone can get public legal RNG abused mons uploaded onto websites or hack in a mon and then have it "traded" to them.
It was a mess, and anyone who thinks otherwise was blissfully ignorant of the hacking going on.
