Now add 10 more years to it and it's a laughable element PLUS considering how weak that Pokédex was for copy pasting Kanto (but worse) instead of considering regional variants back then which would have been the savior of such a drastic and ugly decision. Also, don't forget how unaesthetic the tiles and world was coming from a vibrant HG/SS and Platinum to pale and dark green and dark brown colours EVERYWHERE in Unova. Awful, awful generation.
