Reminder that just because they are speaking Spanish it does not mean the next region will be Mexico.
Other Alternatives:
Spain (Making the third European Region and one capable of crossing over with Kalos or Galar easily)
California (The name is Spanish in origin and has several cities with Spanish names)
Texas (See California’s argument)
Brazil (Also see California’s argument but add in that while North America, Europe and Asia have representatives South America does not)
Chile/Peru/Argentina (See Brazil)

Not that anon but with that logic then you could just bring up the fact that it was settled by Spaniards after they took over but the other anon is right Mexico was recognized as its own country way before Italy was. That being sad in regards to the history of flags the Mexican Flag is actually older than the official Italian one in regards to each country being recognized as its own. Greens and Red are vastly different alongside the aspect ratios. In regards to the CR they ended in 1802 which became the Italian Republic which had a vastly different flag that is in no way even close to the current Italian flag.

Or go the Yugioh route and use Mexico and an island based on Peru and Incans for their Trios based on the Nazca Lines while Box Legendaries are based on Mayan or Aztecs take on animals.

>water warrior eagle (Aztec eagle warriors maybe with some conquistador stuff thrown in)
3 native animals, matches the flag, concepts tie into each other nicely with warriors conquering civilizations, death/dying beating warriors, and civilization "beating" death by lasting
but if every other gens' starters are any indication, we'll just get a bunch of random bullshit with maybe 1 native animal inspired starter
