The only people who day gen 7 was easy peasy are the ones who never played USUM. Its not super hard, but the new totems, ultra nectrozma, and trainers with ev trained pokemon(see guzma and his pinsir) made for a decent challenge.

Exactly. I prefer fights that demand strategy rather than raw unbeatability. Like, I had no issue beating cynthia in platinum with a low 50s team, but that's because I built very strategic sets and spent a lot of time setting up and planning ahead.

I'm not the one your arguing against, and what I did was honestly basic fucking strategy, all I meant was I built very strategic sets given the tools I had at my immediate disposal. And I was agreeing with you too, platinum is pretty hard, all pokemon games need to be is engaging, it doesn't matter if I won with no issue so long as the game demands that I actually strategize and try in order to do it

I said somewhat difficult. I feel Platinum has stronger trainers compared to other games in the series and there's not a lot of battles you can mindlessly stomp through. In DP, you also had less options to work with due to the distribution being really weak, so you had to put more thought in what team members you wanted and how to use your TMs. While Platinum has more available pokemon, I feel it's kind of the same and gym leaders had their parties buffed too.
I also praise USUM for its totem boss battles and the SOS system was great. Trainers also use EVs and have great movesets. I was caught completely off guard by the first Guzma battle and got wiped out.
I'd talk about Emerald too but this post is getting long. Wattson through Juan are all great trainers.

7 (all versions) is "tougher" than most games, on par with the normal type gyms in 2 and 5, and the rival fights throughout the series. However, Necrozma is not one of the hard fights unless you've got a very subpar team due to a mono run or avoiding the trainers.

The only reason the 'Gen 7 is hard' meme even started is because it's the toughest to do a Nuzlocke on if you also deny a ton of resources the game tries to force on you to make it more like Emerald or Platinum, and even then that's more because Totems aren't nuzlocke friendly.
