Funny how they'll update the box sprites but not the models/animations when the former is 200% easier than making another sprite from scratch.

Not happening. All the entries in the DLC dexes are identical to the ones in the base game, the only new ones are the handful of Pokemon that are DLC exclusive.

Sprites aren't actually that hard to make, it takes maybe 30 min at most and if you're good at it it'll take even less.
Models take a lot of work to make.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume that the next couple of games will use this style of sprites. Plus, we got the gen 1, 3, and 7 starters in SwSh, so who knows? Maybe the Johto starters will show up in the next game.

i still don't understand why they felt the need to start updating and then give up part of the way through. they were clearly fine with reusing the 3DS sprites for a lot of monsters

this just makes their craftsmanship look terrible. really doesn't work to dispel the sentiment that GF is inept/lazy

1. Most Alolan Forms didn't get updated, making it inconsistent on the size.
