Those weren't even the most cancerous stall variants either. If ABR brought Pex of his own and had an answer for Kyurem, it could have easily become an infinite/1000 turn match. Smogon needs to ban Pex and Clef from defense and Dark Urshifu and Rillaboom from offense and we'd have a much less cancerous OU. Oh well, at least we'll get some good chaos from the upcoming DLC.

If they had to they'd make some hack that extends the timer.
Regardless of your opinion on stall, 20 minutes on cart is fucking nothing. You could reach the time limit using Hyper Offense lmao.
It's just another attempt from GameFreak to kill singles because it continues to be popular despite them shilling VGC. It reminds me of when Sackurai added tripping to Brawl because Melee became a big competitive game.

I don't think GF has 6v6 singles in mind like that. The time limit is probably just for server reasons.

I think it hurts their egos, the best and most popular form of the game is a fanfic game mode.
Yiff yiff please play official will never be respected as a competitive format because 8 turn games are too boring for anyone over the age of 5 and 5 year olds don't even play online. They have an entire format dedicated to people who have no interest in their product.

VGC is doubles because of the impossible logistics of having a competitive tournament with hundreds of entrants, where games can run as long as an hour. Not because they "want to shill doubles" necessarily, if they did they would just make it the main battle format in the game itself, like in the Genius Sonority games

I feel like 6v6 singles could actually be made viable if Gamefreak just made the animations faster.
Even the 100 turn stall matches end up being faster than 5 turn VGC matches for the same reason running a marathon is faster than running a 100 meter dash while up to your neck in molasses.

3v3 singles is an absurdly different format form 6v6, they're barely similar. That's not really an apt comparison given 20 minutes is often more than enough for 3v3 but almost never enough for 6v6

They're not at all though, they don't go to any tournaments outside of showdown, they're shit players who keep switching in to super effective attacks, doing shit like using earthquake against flying types, wasting calm minds against Toxapex, switching into bad match-ups when the pokemon they already had out had the advantage.
I almost had a stroke seeing the sheer stupidity of some of these plays
