The reason they moved their headquarters to the Nintendo building is because GF asked for the BotW engine to use it in the Gen9 games. That's it

"Legend Of Zelda Engine" is not even Nintendo's propertiary engine and currently is used in free to play chinese action rpg with mild gatcha elements that FUCKING WRECKS SwSh despite costing absolutely nothing.
GF can literaly make their offices on the moon and they could use it, they don't need to be physicaly next to Nintendo lol.

they are not even on the same level.
game freak is 5 to 10 years behind in game design. they never learned how to properly make big screen tv games. appaling. gf needs to be slaved for gen 9.

In case anyone is disappointed at OP's autistic and lies and want an actual reason for the new Nintendo building:

The Current Nintendo CEO said he always found it dumb all of Nintendo's offices in Japan were separated and divided across more than one location, so when he was chosen to be the new president, he knew from the get go he wanted to fulfill his dream of a united and more efficient game development company that keeps all of it's offices in the same space.

They are offering room for people like 1-UP Studios too and even to people like Gamefreak and HAL Labs, who are not owned by them but have a close relationship, simply because the building they chose is so fucking huge they had room to spare.

That is it.

Yes it is. They did it from scratch. The chinks only copied the animations and mechanics, that game doesn't have any of the physics of botw

Hahahahaha. They do things however they please. Moving to a building close to Nintendo just means they'll have an easier time coordinating the development of the games (i.e.: GF makes game, Nintendo asks for progress, GF says it's doing well, then before launch they assist with network, debug and what have you).

But both of the Switch Pokemon games use code from Nintendo's SDK already (which BotW essentially is), even before the move. They also use some of Lunckpack, which is used in the Splatoon and Mario Maker games. Now, what they're used for and how, I can't say with any certainty. Secondly, what would BotW's engine have in it that would benefit a Pokemon game? I seriously doubt a Pokemon game would need the chemistry system BotW has under the hood. Unironically they'd be better off using Monolith Soft's other project, the Xenoblade engine they've been using and improving on from X and 2.

Obviously GF would take its artistic liberties but for the most part this level of detail with a twist would be ideal. I think in terms of other JRPG titles like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or even the recent BotW

You can have outside access to an intranet via VPN. As a web developer, my company has a handful of clients whose websites we access via VPN since they're in-house websites only accessible on their intranet.

That being said, having to use a VPN to access the engine for their own games sounds like a huge pain, and physically moving to be with the rest of the Nintendo devs would still make sense, especially if they needed help with the engine itself.
