Your average SM Model had 4000 polygons, while your average SwSh model is in the 12000s and upwards and featuring alot more detailed rigs.

They could reuse the animations at absolute best, but everyone would need to be brand new models.

Besides, this shit says 27 battles, Battle Tree had like, what, 15 guys, and 90% of them were people that were already in SM in other roles that they could easily reuse.

The only reason the PWT happened was because it was piss easy to do those sprites for those trainers and alot of them were straight up reused assets. SwSh would not have the luxury of being able to do that easily. Don't count on it.

Even the in-battle models of LGPE characters are bobble-headed, so I don't think they can use any of them. And like that other anon pointed out, USUM characters all have models too blocky and lacking rigged parts that SwSh ones have to work without completely redoing their models. At absolute best they would be able to re-use some of their animations, but they'll still have to do new ones for stuff like throwing the dynamaxed ball, battle intro and battle outro, etc.

Well..... on the other hand, the Minecraft Steve update alone probably has more work put into it than all of Crown Tundra, and then if we get into third parties, the work that some of them put into DLC that is similarly priced, is insane. It won't. USUM added roughly 11 new trainers and 6 pokemons if you count the Necrozma forms.

Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor are already adding 19 new Pokemons/forms (21 if the horses in the leak end up being true) and atleast 7 trainers that we know of. It's already on-par if not bigger than what USUM did even though it's cheaper. Don't expect more than what we already know.

Errrr...no. They reused the sprites for every Gym Leader BUT the Hoenn ones, which are the only ones they had to remake form scratch. Given, they still had to ANIMATE them, but the basis was already there.

Except a lot of the sprites had to be redone for BW2's engine which were taller than the GBA's proportions for overworld sprites (not to mention the segmented parts) and the character animations for the battles weren't exactly a drag and drop job for everyone either.

That doesn't change the fact that they grabbed all Sinnoh and Kanto and Johto guys from Platinum and HGSS. Taking apart old sprites and turn them into "tweening animations" is monumentally easier than making brand new sprites, and even more easier than making and animation 3D models in various contexts.
