The fucking Lumiose Blackout that Team Flare causes doesn't actually change how many lights come on at night, nor does it stop generic NPCs from strolling right through the blockade. You get unique models for the Flare Scientists whose names no one remembers, yet the gym leaders, Elite Four members, and fucking Champion of Kalos all have static portraits. There is a Pokeball factory that literally only exists because someone decided that the player goes too long without beating up on Flare fodder, like, they don't even pretend to have a good reason to be there like searching for Bullshitainium or locking all trainers out of their Pokeballs with some "master signal" nonsense. I'm not going to lie, Team Yell sounds pretty bad. But if the game isn't trying to sell them as a serious threat to anything beyond a preschool classroom whose teacher is on a smoke break, they're automatically better than the rolling dumpster fire that is Flare.
