>>45090175>>45090210>>45090348I feel like the storyline break had to come around the same time they decided there would be DLC. They couldn't make the game as expansive as envisioned so snipped the story short (since carrying the same story to completion in a DLC would make the game look incomplete all the way to the surface) and made it a matter of 'Eternatus nao' with the descendants segment being wrapped up into a jarring Delta Episode.
Having the Eternatus situation hit its boiling point midway through your journey (with IoA and CT helping spread the adventure out) instead of right at the league would've felt more natural. And then the descendants segment could've had room to breathe and fill the space after Eternatus was dealt with. Or they could've reversed it and done the descendants storyline first with Rose consistently nagging about Eternatus and the Eternatus encounter happening before/during the league, whichever is more organic.
Also, I think the descendants and any hired henchmen (I'm sure they could have a following or afford to hire goons, being royalty) would've made for a far, far more sensible 'enemy' than Oleana's security guard chase which was pretty awful.
When we eventually get better technology, I could definitely see Sword/Shield being hacked into more fully realized games. AFAIK there's a game that a YTer named DuncanCantDie commissioned modifying the base into different text and color palettes but I think that's all they could change at this point in time.
