If you want to get arsey, they've done a Kanto remake, Johto remake, Hoenn remake, Kanto remake already, oddly enough aping the pattern of original releases where it went Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Kanto remake.
If it weren't for other extenuating factors, that alone would be enough to convince me DP remakes are next, but with them on top (New Gen on new hardware gets Generation 2 systems back remade, no child playing today who started in Gen VII/VIII have played it, thus are ripe to sell it to, NO Sinnoh starters, Mythicals or Fossils planned to be added to SS) it makes it a certainty, not to mention Sinnoh is Japan's second favourite region behind Kanto and Sinnoh Remakes had been trending when they announced the DLC announcement Direct. It's why you got HGSS in your childhood and it's why Game Freak will continue to remake and re-sell all their older games, because there's always a new audience to sell them to.
