Why were the Hoenn starters chosen for Crown Tundra?

There MUST be a logical reason here, it can’t be a coincidence they’re returning with a lot of ‘mons that have mega evolutions already.

Pity there's still a handful of pokémon with Megas missing. I mean the very existence of Megas was to try and fix shitmon, so why would you expect them to bring back Megas without bringing back all the shitmon to use them first?
