The concept of "pure" non-rock typed fossils may return, hopefully. It could be a way to save or rekindle the designs of past fossils.

I could see "pure" Rampardos & Bastiodon in a remake, so who knows.

And the creatures initially described were removed from the fossil record when they did get fixed. They ain't removing pokémon and aren't fixing what they did give, because they're going all-in with the idea. Shit, I'm execting another scientist in the CT who revives the older ones and mentions something along the lines of Cara Liss's method of reviving fossils akin to working with incomplete specimens.
