Anyone else play with only a team of 4-5 pokemon rather than 6?

They end up robbing valuable exp which sucks, happened to me when I replayed Emerald, Plat and BW recently. Pic related, dumb piece of shit was never strong enough to ohko anything nor bulky enough to take a hit.
