>>45111410What bothers me is it's not even about quantity, BW has 150 for the main game, just like DP, but it has a solid variety through out the whole game.
Sinnoh's problem is it blows it's load early, after Eterna City almost all of the good pokemon for team building are already available, then you're left running into the same old boring mons (Geodude line, machop line, zubat line, staravia and bibarrel etc) for most of the rest of the game, getting drip fed new options that aren't worth the effort (Great marsh pokemon, bonsly and mime jr, glameow etc).
Compare it to any other game and it's clear what the problem is, in other games you're constantly fed new team building options and it isn't until victory road or just before that you start seeing repeat encounter tables but by then it's fine cause no one likes waiting that long anyway. Sinnoh hits a drought as soon as the mid game hits and most people don't like to have a full team by then, the mid game is a prime team building phase.
Seriously, go look on bulbapedia, they stuffed practically everything into route 205, valley windworks, eterna forest, honey tree encounters, and Mt coronet, so if you don't do all your team building between gym 1 and 2, fuck you.
Looking back on it, that's prob why I remember that section with the most fondness
