The first was a Pelipper on Diamond. The first time I got Surf, I went in the water and the first surf encounter was a Shiny Pelipper.
I don't remember which Pokemon I was using, but I was sure it wouldn't kill it in one hit so I went for it. Indeed, it did only around 40-45% damage. I threw a couple Great Balls and they all missed, and I had only a few Poke Balls left, so I thought I'd hit him one more time for some better odds. The second hit killed the poor Pelipper, not even a crit. He just died.
The second one was a Numel in Emerald. Met it in Mt. Chimney or the routes around it, instead of going to the bag to use a ball, I accidentally used a move - probably because I was sleepy, and it just died.
Haven't met a shiny Pokemon since then, which is around 8 years.
