Even earlier than that. SciresM or Kaphotics (forget which) datamine Bank and found there are 6 entire Kalos pentagon games back in April 2014. This led to speculation that there would be Hoenn remakes which was confirmed a month after. So XY and ORAS were the first four, but there were two still remaining after that.

I can't find the words to properly convey this but that autist is partially right. I mean who cares if a game was in development or not, it may as well not exist and it existing or not existing has no bearing on it ever coming out.
And as far as we know, they could have been planned but by no means near implementation or routed towards Sun and Moon.

Thousand Arrows/Waves existed in XY. Light of Ruin/le 3,000 year flower fairy too. The fact that Hoopa’s event mentions Mirage Island while Volcanion’s mentions Southern Kalos is another. The groundwork was there beyond just two lines of code; the fact that the second mythical’s event hints at Hoenn while the final one hints at the part of Kalos we never visit is the damning thing here, imo. Who knows when they decided to change plans though; it was definitely after they’d finished XY’s development in any event.

Kalos’s wasted potential always made me sad. I remember all the speculation based on those moves/events, like the Hoopa one immediately telling everyone it was going to play a part in ORAS (even if it ended up just being a legendary hunt). Everyone speculating about southern Kalos, the Floette, the thousand moves, AZ being built up even in ORAS with a second eternal flower growing in sootopolis.

And then just... nothing.
