>>45123174GSC are legit some of the worst designed games in the series.
>Absolutely abysmal wild pokemon quality.>New pokemon are hidden behind asinine appearance rates, trade-based evolutions, being locked to post game for some fucking reason, and generally being wholly outclassed by the readily available Kanto-mons>Enforced HM bloat>The level curve is fucked because everything from post-Morty to Pryce has to be levelled to be taken on in any order>Kanto is a giant, empty time consumer>Teams of gym leaders, E4, and so on are huge bags of wasted potentialThe flaws baked into gen 2 are most visible in the gen 4 remakes. Gen 4 did literally everything in its power to address the fundamental flaws of Gen 2, wild pokemon have better availability, teams are improved, and so on, they even added an entire new route and subplot to try and address the level curve, but they couldn't fix enough without radically changing the fundamentals of the game.
People have nostalgia for it, sure, and the gen 4 remakes are great despite the inherited flaws, but never delude yourself into thinking gen 2 was decent, well polished, or "they don't make 'em like this anymore".
RBY are broken clusterfucks, but even they play as RPGs better than GSC.
