What made Pokemania take off back in the 90s? It was the appeal of collecting & raising monsters with other people. Pokemon's battling system, story, and dungeons were all at best mediocre compared to other RPGs. POGO uses 21st century technology to put focus on this appeal and take it the next level. Meanwhile, mainline Pokemon still plays the same way it did in 1996. It's no wonder that POGO consistently has way more players and makes way more money than mainline, and has even left a deep mark on the current batch of games and anime. The only reason to pay attention to mainline is to see what new monsters will come to POGO in the future.
