You don't really need to waste a slot for fly. Just grab a flying mon from the pc whenever you need to fast travel you lazy fuck

it's usually never a problem for me because i always only use 4-5 pokemon on my team.

Whenever I make a team of 6, 1 or 2 of the mons end up as deadweight that just steal exp. Happened to me in BW, Plat and Emerald recently.

You say it like that's a bad thing. There are a billion water types probably for that very reason. Fly isnt as necessary but theres still a lot of variety.

I'm playing USUM. No Surf actually sucks because that's a great move. Fly? Eh. Not too bad for STAB. The missed turn leads to shenanigan's too sometimes.

I don't get why people say Sinnoh has the worst hms when it's just Surf and Waterfall. Surf, Waterfall, AND Dive/Whirlpool is far worst.

You can get Surf as a TM on Ula Ula IIRC. That's around when you would get it as an HM anyway.

If no one on your team can learn Surf or Fly, you probably have an unbalanced team. If you are playing according to some self imposed restriction, then having to switch one of your team out to use Surf or Fly is part of the challenge.

Defog is practically useless (and sometimes detrimental) in battle but annoying not to have when you need to use it, worse than flash on both counts. Rock Climb is barely better than strength, and often requires two uses (one to get down, one to get up) rather than cut being used once to unblock something and strength being used once for all rocks on a floor.
