The family unit was dying as more people were looking towards working and refusal to be good parents, instead they would rather SJW bitch and moan about violent cartoons and games and adult comedies like Married with Children's sexism towards ugly ass women and women who wanted to be more than pretty brainless bimbos living life on easy street. Pokemon distracted everybody and they loved it, it wasn't as violent so parents could neglict their kids in peace, it wasn't pandering to SJWs by shoving in minority characters and ugly women under the guise of fairness and wokeness and that's all it was. You can tell by the massive decline in the franchise after the Lugia movie, most Johto pokemon were useless or ugly and pokemanica gave way shit like Family guy and South Park both blew up in the 2000s
