Nintendo's too 'meh' to intervene heavily and they get the most amount of money anyway, but I'd say they're starting to pressure those fucks at TPC with their new approach to mobile (that is "none for the time being")
That's why Snap and PMD were green lighted on switch, you can't just have a stream of shut down mobile failures and expect to not have the biggest guys in the room starting to wonder why they should keep you around

You forgot one very important thing anon the main thing in my opinion, the switch being a huge success. Part of the Mobile approach at least in my opinion was the failure of the WiiU now that the switch is selling hotcakes Nintendo is looking to go back to consoles full-time again, sure the mobiles gigs not called FE not printing money is a part but the comeback of the consoles was the big one, it was pretty funny that guy having to admit he was wrong about the switch.

Ishihara has always been great at making money for Ninty by being butt buddies with GF's staff (and thus always keeping the synergy between the franchise's merchandise and the games) and by greenlighting decent Spinoffs to keep the player base invested
Now that the Switch is one of the most ridiculous software sellers in the industry in general, Ishihara just looked like an asshole for releasing effectively nothing on it (TPC is pretty much in charge of the spinoff releasing in the first place)

It was about time actually. I think Ishihara is one of the reasons the main games took a dive in quality and we barely got good pokémon spin-offs nowadays. Him, Masuda and those others who go "Muh Phones", "Muh Smartphone kiddies", "Muh Mobile is future" should get a a slap in the face and go back to make good games again. Good grief I just want Conquest 2 is this asking too much?

The problem with all Pokemon gachas is that they wanna have their cake and eat it too.
They want the gacha gorillions but don't offer the basic things all gacha offers aka waifus and husbandos and fanservice. Gotta keep the brand clean and safe, no creative freedom allowed, ever, everything must be fun, simple and easy to understand.
Pokemon gachas will never succeed simply because they don't offer anything the mainline games don't already do and they don't offer anything that is what makes people sink it's teeth into gachas in the first place.
