Plus a ton of game companies say you can expect nice, cushy shit, and then when games get to crunch time that shit gets swept under the rug just to finish shit right away. I'm pretty sure people working for the more famous cases of timecrunch like Naughty Dog didn't see "When you have to finish games, we'll work you to the bone" on the job application.
I'm not saying GF is completely free of fault here but I absolutely guarantee the reason they had to cut shit was because they had to rush this game out the door to feed TCPi's lust for dollars. That's why the entire game looks like a total rushjob, because it absolutely goddamn is.
Yeah it sucks ass that they had to lie and it sucks that it happened at all, but it's not because the devs were sitting on their laurels eating grapes and programming one line of code per day. A new developer for Pokemon is going to have the exact same shit happen, so not even that is going to be the magic solution people expect.
