140 attack and 110 speed is too much for mere mortals like Archeops and Regigigas to handle. They need the nerf so as not to be overwhelmed by their own power.

Archeops' BST of 567 is significantly higher than all the other fossils. All the other fully evolved fossils from the first 5 gens have a BST of 495, except Aerodactyl, which has 515. Aurorus and Tyrantrum have a BST of 521, while the Galar fossils all have a BST of 505. So Defeatist serves to balance out Arcehops' very high BST (one of the highest BSTs among all non-legendaries). Archeops' Pokédex number is also 567, so it having a BST of 567 seems to be some cheeky joke?

Then it would just be a worse Aerodactyl, and die in one hit to an unboosted Aqua Jet or Bullet Punch. At least with halved attack it can still kill Moltres after it uses Scarf HP Water.

It's an Aerodactyl with an actually usable special attack stat-a fast mixed attacker in contrast to Aerodactyl's purely physically aligned stats accentuated by its mega.

Also it would still have a higher attack stat than non-mega Aerodactyl, as well as a much better movepool with actually good flying stab in Acrobatics and a great rock move in Head Smash. Given it's already good speed tier, I feel like it's actually better than Aerodactyl with those stats.

It's covered in moss, it looks pathetic, the obvious point of the design is to be a washed-up legendary that lost its divinity and is a mere shell of its former self. That's why it will never lose Slow Start.

Yes, Slaking is a mere mortal, not a legendary or UB, so it stands to reason that is can't handle 160 attack without losing its mind and going berserk, hence why they have the inner safety mechanisms of Slow Start/Truant/Defeatist.

Arcanine doesn't allow non pseudo or non Legendary (Ultra Beasts) to have a higher BST than it without a hindering ability.
That's why Arcanine is known as the "Legendary" Pokemon. That's why Slaking and Archeops got fucked.
