>>45197329>Wait he did Makai Kingdom or did you mean Soul Nomad? He actually did a lot of work for both! In Makai Kingdom he did around 2 dozen pieces of art for the game, I'm sure you can find some on places like Gelbooru but the game is from 2005 it might be difficult.
Harada did the character design and promo work for MK though, but notably less than Disgaea titles, MK in general was super budget and it shows. Still a fantastic game though! Anyway...
> iirc they had to outsource shit for Pokemon SWSH,Correct, specifically the models were outsourced for XY, and GF has been reusing them since.
>so I wouldnt be surprised if the total number of staff was the same for both dev partiesThis has been the general idea, GF has only had to develop the game around the Pokemon rather than needing to work wit the tons of Pokemon models, it's why when people were outraged when Ohmori made up reasons for the dex cut and why people figuring out that GF lied about them needing to remake the models.
>and we could have had all Pokemon in SWSH if they didnt split their group so thinThe problem with pinning everything on SWSH is that it's ignoring the fact that SWSH is rife with the exact same issues present in Gen 6 and Gen 7. A lack of QOL features like cutscene skip or difficulty settings, minimal to no postgame, hallway routes, low level animations, etc. SWSH has all these issues and more despite still costing $60 (plus DLC), the bar was higher so the anger raised to match it.
I agree that SWSH probably suffered from a splintered devteam but GF should have the capabilities to hire other studios if they need assistance, for example both BOTW and Splatoon 2 devs hired Monolith soft for help developing their games, yet GF, despite outsourcing their models already, has been making the same mistakes with their console games that they have with their handheld ones. GF as a whole seems incapable of working in 3D and there's zero sign of improvement.
