I really feel like they meant to make a continuation of Kalos but realized if they just chop up those elements and rehash them they can expand their timeframe even more.

You can't convince me both of them weren't planned to be in Z. It fits in a little too well and both of them cocktease Kalos lore.

Basically a whole lot of plans for Kalos 2 fell through so they're slowly but surely reintroducing them in further games rather than dropping them AZ's pokemon will probably be a transformation for your own pokemon someday

Gamefreak is all but saying those devices were made from its meteor, but if you asked them they’d say “haha it’s a coincidence” like the Mew/Ditto theory, or the stuff about Celebi that’s outright contradicted by Crystal version.

Fossilmons were always rock. The only exceptions are Genesect who was made into a cyborg, and the abominations because they’re two things combined together.

That would imply GameFreak can have foresight on the consequences of the cut.
Which as >>45191327 already points out, isn't possible.
SWSH is barely functional with the cut. It literally takes them more work to scrub things out in the manner they did than for them to just make things compatible with the library they're already re-using anyway.

exactly, its proof they don't gain rock typing from being fossils, they BECAME good enough to restore fossils because of their rock typing. Aerodactyl is proof, its sharp pieces were so rock they got mistaken for surrounding rock and not restored. A restored Lycanroc would probably be missing its neck spikes in the same way.

The galar half-fossils are even probably in the same boat as Aerodactyl's spikes, the other half of the body is so rocky it's indistinguishable when excavating. Would be like trying to find a geodude, onix, or roggenrola fossil.

They've contradicted themselves before. Tyrantrum's US dex entry implies they don't match what they were like in the past since complete restoration is impossible.
Personally though I agree that they were all probably like that in the past. My theory for why they're all Rock is because it's easier for the bones of Rock types to survive the fossilization process.

aerodactyl's restoration wasn't complete either. it has to be mega-d to finish restoring. it's still rock both ways, in fact markedly MORE rock post-mega full restoration.
