I understood locking Reshiram and Zekrom back in B/W because they were in 3D cut scenes and if they looked different as sprites it would be weird. But since moving to 3D models where they don't need to make them separate I don't see any reason for it.

Shinies were fine as a fun little novelty

The problem came when shiny hunting became a thing, and Game Freak started making mechanics to encourage it

Shiny locking is fine for the game they came from, because of story/lore reasons. Bonus legendaries/mythicals from events and distributions, future games, Bank/Home, GO, etc. shouldn't be shiny locked, with there being a guaranteed shiny version being every few years.
I just want my legit Shiny Mew and Arceus.

I'm not Japanese, anon. GF need to give us foreigners the same amount of events as the Japs get. Hell, I'll even pay for tickets for a movie I won't see if they'll come with the same quality of pokemon the jap ticket preorders do.
