I'm guessing the galar birds are one of those two categories.
Especially given moltres's Galar dex entry.

yeah, zapdos losing flying for fighting (it no longer flies) articuno losing flying for psychic (its seen flying without flapping, or even spreading its wings) and moltres losing flying for dark, using its fires to fly, would have been a MUCH better fit.

Galarian Moltres still has wings. It doesn't need much of a justification for its ability to fly (in a method that doesn't involve some form of magic) regardless of typing.

Didn't we have the exact same thread with the exact same OP yesterday. Anyways people pointed out that the G-Legendary Birds are barely related to the K-Legendary Birds, if at all. They're completely different Pokemon that were simply and coincidentally named the same thing because of their powers and characteristics. It works with the Birds' Japanese names since they're more generic or ambiguous sounding, but it's completely lost in translation otherwise.
TL;DR: The Galarian Birds aren't regional variants at all because they're not the Articuno, Zapdos, nor Moltres from Kanto that adapted to life in Galar. They're their own species that happened to be named the same thing. At best they're cousins. Also Game Freak is retarded.

I don't see how that's possible. They're clearly variations of the same design, aside from colors Articuno and Moltres' biggest changes are in their head and Zapdos' are the legs and neck. Maybe they all share a common ancestor or something, they're definitely related.
