GameFreak can't develop in 3D to save their lives. Hell, they could barely develop in 2D. BW2-tier visuals were more than possible on the GBA asides the 3D aspects.
No one fucking cares because Pokemon fans consume Pokemon like their life depends on it. GameFreak could have sold that sandbox demo and I'm sure it would have broken sales records and have people defending it.
It's fucking time to move on. Either play the games in the series you enjoy or stop playing Pokemon all together, GameFreak aren't going to change their ways because their laziness is making them money and from a business perspective, that's literally all that matters.
