To be honest. Sonic should just stick strictly to 2D even Sonic’s worst 2D outings don’t do as much harm to the franchise as the 3D ones. There’s a reason why Megaman never went back to 3D again. Sonic should just follow suit in that regard.

I liked the whole Shadow-Maria-GUN plot back in the 2000s in the uh...anime (Sonic X) and games that were released near the time. As for recent projects, I also thought Sonic Boom was a pretty damn decent comedy show.

Except the gameplay is what people liked about Sonic from the start. And the fact they went back to just that 20+ years later with Sonic Mania and it was successful compared to the story driven shit show that was Forces shows that it’s actually what people want. If you want people engaged like that just do it through subtle lore fagging like what Kirby does.

To be frank Sonic going to other mediums is honestly for the best. For the games they can’t stick to a consistent formula and even when they do they still manage to fuck up. It seems that when they outsource they end up doing better than Sonic Team anyways.
