I tried using Regidrago and it's literally just worse Regieleki what the fuck? Why would they make another new Regi just for it to set terrain for the other one?

That it's not strong enough to make a difference in using and not fast enough to guarantee using at full capacity most of the time.

Water spouters want a scarf so they can hit first before losing HP, so the power you gain in ability is matched by anyone else running an offensive item like life orb or specs. They also get the same STAB, so at that point it's 150 base power off 100 base Satk vs 120/130 base power off 130 base offenses average.

It's not a good gimmick. That's not even considering things like chip damage from rocks or getting hit by priority to get even weaker when you could just run Dragapult or Latios or something and not have to account for those things at all.

So the 1.3x boost from life orb is equivalent to the 1.5x boost from your ability and mons with specs totally carry moves that can rival water spout clones in power

For that matter, dragon energy isn't even the only set it can run, shit like ddance outrage is equally viable, lets you run an offensive item, and gives you an extra 1.5x boost to your damage to boot. Also lets you get some use out of your shitty moveset like crunch or whatever. Regidrago is definitely way worse than regieleki but it has its place too and definitely isn't straight up outclassed by any other dragon type
