Serious answer: because it means it easier on the animators if they have an idea what scale to work in. I.E. they know where to put the attack effect to make it look like it's actually hitting.
Its also easier to gauge where to put the camera so that both Pokemon and at least one trainer are onscreen at the same time, not counting the idle camera, whose framing also benefits from knowing where and how big a Pokemon will be
