In XY, fairy types and megas are a big deal, but in ORAS, because they happen way "before" XY, the lore is different.
That's why you have the "non-mega" and "mega" verses, which both actually include various sets of sub-"canons", and then Galar doesn't really acknowledge anything but itself, only making passing mentions to other regions.
tldr there is no continuity faggots, it's gameplay first and lore draped around it
