The real flaws aren't lack of frontier and shit, but stuff like no rebalancing of the game taking into account shit like exp gained upon capture, megaevolutions and expanded movepools, hastily slapped together sequences in the added parts (lati@s gift "event", delta episode; even if both were good ideas, they really feel rushed and in need of more kino).
I still objectively rank them below HGSS though, because those games had so much care put into them it was unreal.
