It's pretty comparatively mediocre, but it's still a Pokemon game. It's the easiest to get into online if you like that. The DLC mode is some of the most fun we've had IMO.
Just play and see really.

The Wild Area is fun as fuck because of the diversity of options you can have. The intruding story elements are pretty limited which is a good thing for the sake of leaving you on your own or a bad thing if you like more story. I personally liked it. It does feel barebones only after seeing that the DLC has more to offer.

fastest main story of all time, getting to post game should take you atleast under 3-5 hours if you dont take it too seriously. and the online is more active than usum currently

average pokemon game with amazing QOL features but the shallowest plot and gameplay mechanics of the franchise. If you aren't into competitive battling or autistic completionism then you'll probably get about 30-35 hours of gameplay.

You're in for a decent experience
Very easy though, so if you want a challenge you have to actually self impose one, but the variety of Pokemon is absolutely staggering
Just give it a try though, people here either really love or really hate this game
