I know nothing of meta Pokémon other than this Pokemon is considered a cancer.

Why and what makes it so common and good in meta?

It's not really cancer, it's just very common in basically any meta it's in. Reason for this is it combines a bunch of very useful qualities into one slot, so if you're 3 or 4 mons into a team and are still missing some important roles, Lando is often a safe bet to tie that team together.
>ground immunity
>electric (volt switch) immunity
>u-turn and knock off
>blanket check to physical attackers
>speed control (with scarf)
>stealth rock or defog
>strong earthquake, even without much attack investment

It's a pokemon that excels in defensive, offensive and supportive roles. It's redundant and omnipresent, but only bad players consider it cancer.

It's not cancer.
It's just insanely versatile and can fill a number of roles.
If anything, it's actually kind of an anti-cancer because it allows for more creativity in the other 5 party slots by filling nearly any role required.

Lando is a swiss army knife.
It's not as good as proper dedicated tools, but it's a life saver when you can only bring 6 tools.

Just take a look at how many sets it has. And not just in OU, but in Doubles, VGC, and BSS too. And even in previous generations.
This thing is ridiculous, but it's still not busted, It has a 4x weakness to a really common coverage type and no reliable recovery, so it can't do everything.

because Intimidate is an incredibly stupid ability. This carries along with Landorus and Incin getting every tool to abuse the absolute fuck out of it. If they would finally nerf Intimidate into only working once from the ability holder then Lando would still be good but seen slightly less often
