The only exception is the in-battle models for Pokemon and trainers, which really took a toll on Gen 7's performance as a whole.
If they used the overworld models for in-battle in Sun and Moon we could have gotten battle transitions as seamless as Fire Emblem. The only game that used mega high poly future proofed models was Pokemon and it suffered for it.
Now it was a pointless sacrifice to begin with because not even all the Pokemon are in the games anymore.
